About this blog

Warning: I post a lot.

I post on anything that interests or infuriates me or delights me.

I am a proud geek and love many fandoms and can’t figure out why I find some not the least bit entertaining. I’d say “geek girl” but I’m 62 years old.

I’m a nerd. I have a degree in Outdoor Resource Management – Naturalist Interpreter with minors in Biology, Botany, Horticulture,  Geography, Photography and History. But those are by no means the only things I’m interested in since I started out in Archeology and glanced off Philosophy, Music, Art and English before landing back where I started as a child, wanting to help Smoky the Bear and would have except for Ronald Reagan.

I’m liberal on a lot of things, conservative on a few.  I am tolerant of most things except stupidity. My dad noticed very quickly I was a devotee of the little boy in the Emperor’s New Clothes and that tendency has never gone away. I reserve the right to be Mary, Mary quite contrary as my dad often called me.

I keep hoping the huge karmic debt will land on the Republican party but it hasn’t happened yet.

I believe all people should be able to be sheltered, have good food, clean water, quality healthcare,  and to have personal safety and be valued because they exist, not because they happen to be born into a family that has those things. All people need them and sometimes “gifts” from the government is the only way.

I have no idea why I have a lot of Christian ministers and people who say they ‘love Jesus’ following me but if you are that kind of person please recognize that I am not. My morals and values are not those as currently practiced by people who loudly practice your religion.

I post a lot about the peoples I’m descended from, Mom was 1st generation American, one parent being a Canadian Scot who among other things was an early feminist and the other emigrated from Sweden. My dad was mostly Scottish with one great aunt was allegedly a descendant of Priscilla Mullins, why it was she and not John Alden, I have no idea. From doing his genealogy, I have discovered many abolitionists and other firebrand.

I come by my activism,  honestly.

  1. You are an old hippie perhaps. I am a few years older than you are. Like you I fluxuate in my interests. My main thing is helping others, peace. I walk a very wide spiritual path. I am a rebel and I am still idealistic. Hugs, Barbara

  4. I love the content of your blog but feel rushed to read the multitude of articles you post each day. Perhaps you might consider posting a brief preview or T.O.C. of the articles you post each day.

  5. I’ve been enjoying your wide-ranging interests for years. I don’t know why I never read your about page before now. I am surprised how many commenters have given you advice, as you haven’t asked for any. I won’t bother with advice, since you are navigating fearlessly on a parallel path to mine. Peace.
