A Prayer on International Peace day

sunset0017_edited-1 (1)

I pray for

Just one night of peace

All over the world

I pray for just one night

Of healing for people

Whose hearts are sore

Today.

I pray for just one night

Because if for one night

We can stop and look at each other

And the world with love

Then we can make one night into two

And two into twenty

And twenty into more.

I pray that all peoples

Can take time tonight

To look up

Look up at the shining moon

As She shines down on all of us

No matter where we are

She shines

No matter who we are

Or what we believe in

She shines

So let her look down on peace

Let her look down and see warm well fed people

Let her look down and see people who love

Love each other, love our Mother the Earth

Love our sisters and brothers who walk

On four, six, eight or many legs

On those that fly and those that slither

And those that swim or creep under the waters

Of the world

Let us look up with all the other people

And have hope that we can all be better people

Let us love and hope and heal

Let us be…

I welcome Autumn

I turn my face to the east to welcome this Autumn morning.

The shimmering, sparkling green gold of the palm tree out my window.

The throaty croak of the raven watching over the neighborhood.

The fresh touch of the first cleansing winds of fall.

The castenet rattle of sycamore’s brown leaves.

The scold of the greedy squirrel in the tangerine tree.

The welcoming wave of the winds in the trees.

The fresh fall colours starting in the liquidambers.

The calmness of a quiet morning.

The blessing of a warm cat’s cuddle in the first chill of the season.

I welcome autumn with its fire and colour. I welcome the coming sleep of the trees. I welcome the harvest. I welcome a time of reflection and thanks. I welcome Autumn.

Flameshift

Hymn to Brighid

Brighid, Lady of flame
Forge of me a link
In the chain
Of strong women
Create a song in my heart
Help me heal with love

Sing me a song of flames
Sing me a song of hammer and anvil
Sing me a song of peace
Sing me a song of creation

Make me strong
Make me shiny
Make me tempered
Make me precious.

Sing me a song of flames
Sing me a song of hammer and anvil
Sing me a song of peace
Sing me a song of creation.

Use me to help
Use me to heal
Use me to create
Use me to make real

Sing me a song of morning
Sing me a song of night
Sing me a song of between times
Sing me a song of your light.

Every day and every night that I say the geneology of Brighid
I shall not be killed
I shall not be harmed
I shall not be put into a cell
I shall not be wounded

No fire, no sun, no moon shall burn me
No lake, no water, no sea shall drown me.

For I am the child of Poetry,
Poetry, child of Reflection,
Reflection, child of Meditation,
Meditation, child of Lore,
Lore, child of Research,
Research, child of Great Knowledge,
Great Knowledge, child of Intelligence,
Intelligence, child of Comprehension,
Comprehension, child of Wisdom,
Wisdom, child of Brighid.

May my words be as considered as poetry,
May I reflect on all I do or say,
May I meditate on those things important spiritually
May I seek to know more of the lore
May I research what I am curious about and what will enable me to grow
May I seek to know great knowledge,
May I acknowledge the intelligence of others
May I comprehend what I seek to learn and apply those lessons
May I know that seeking wisdom is not the same as being wise.
May I be a child of Brighid.

Prayer for a misty May morning

I turn my face to the soft May morning air

And ask protection and healing this day

From gray May morning to violet twilight

From violet twilight through the deepness of night

I ask for:

Humour of crow

Wit from the raven

Warmth from my cup of tea

Intrepidness of the beetles that cross my path each day

Curiosity of the cats who accompany me on my walk

Joy of leaping squirrel

Cleansing of mist in the air

Clearness of the scent of the blooming jasmine

Luminescence of the new green leaves on the liquidamber

Be with me and all I love throughout this day

And through the between times

And blessings of night.

Blessings on a January morning

I ask the blessings of the day as I walk through the amber of pre-dawn light

And send kisses to the full moon as it sets in the west

Blessings through this day and to the twilight and through the night

Blessings of morning kitten kisses

Blessings of sidewalks covered with the last of the falling leaves

Blessings of the croaking raven in the liquidamber

Blessings of the mockingbird singing the first songs of spring

Blessings of the blooming camellia and it’s tender pink blossoms

Blessings of the brisk breeze of early morning

Blessings of the first sips of hot tea

Blessings of the light aroma of coming spring after cold

Blessings of being alive and able to move, and think and dream

Be with me this day and every day and with all that I hold dear.

Blessings on St Lucy’s Day!

May your candles be lit in joy.

May you have the sweetness of life on your lips

May your life be full of light in the dark of winter

May you have friends to share the light with

May you find the evergreen within yourself and be able to share it with others

May you be ready for light to return to the world

May the Tomtes protect you from evil and mistfortune

May the Yule goat Bring you what you need and what would bless you this Yule.

May you look forward to the light’s return as well as blessing the restful and pregnant dark.

A prayer for the beauty of a summer morning

I ask the blessings of a beautiful summer day. May it surround me and those I love from early morning’s light through the heat of day and the cool of night.

I ask blessing and protection of nine flowers of early summer.

From the purple glow of the canopies of jacaranda
The cheer of coreopsis
The greeting of a pale yellow Japanese iris
The beauty of roses
The multiples of shooting star hydrangeas
The glory of nasturtiums
The etherealness of the short lived day lilies
The perfusion of lavendar
The spice of red geraniums
Be with me this day
Be with us through the beauty of twilight
Keep us as we sleep
So mote it be.
