This was a heinous excuse to mistreat a group of inconvenient women. Any woman that was a threat to men in any way living in Ireland in the Twentieth Century. It started out a benign and turned into something unimaginably terrible and though it doesn’t say so in the article I suspect “social dysfunction” is code for lesbian.
