A Site of Beautiful Resistance
I was shocked when I recently read something saying Columbus did not discover America. He only went to the Caribbean. It was the Vikings who were the first people to discover America.
Really? I thought the people who came over the land bridge from Siberia were the first! If it was the Vikings, then no one would have been there when they landed.
Our perception is so Eurocentric. I remember some young African person once saying, when the comment was made of their land being ‘discovered’ at a particular date. He said something like, ‘We always knew we were here.’

I read his books many decades ago. Both the Egyption one and The Kon Tiki Expedition. Fascinating books.
