Bits and Pieces
I’ve been asked to be part of a panel at the Pagan Studies conference on the future of arts in the Pagan Community. I get to present on Literature/ writing. I think I’m going to focus on fiction and all the pagan writers currently producing said writing. Doing the non-fiction is just too damn unpredictable and sometimes downright silly.
My sister, the sports nut, finally bought a tv antenna so she can watch the Olympics. We haven’t had tv other than dvds in 5 years. I’m finding I did not miss it a bit.
I do have to admit being able to watch the gymnasts as an ex gymnast is fun. They do so many more amazing things than we used to do but I have a rather kinesthetic reaction to some things. My body remembers hitting the mat and other nasty thing so I cringe when they show them. Sooo not watching the trampoline events, I flew off too many damn times. Nothing like having the coach scream at you for dismounting incorrectly while you are lying there trying to figure out what happened and what hurts while your friends try to explain they think you passed out mid flip. (I had) Turned out if I flipped a certain way my blood pressure would drop and I would pass out when I was upside down. That time I flipped and landed on an elbow and back about 6 ft away from the apparatus. They thought it was broken for a while but it was just a sprain.
We’re big cycling fans and I could have cheerfully missed seeing Van Vleuton’s crash yesterday. EEEEEEEEE! Just bloody awful especially the wait to see if she was going to be okay. She is lucky to be a live and not paralyzed from the neck down.
I haven’t really slept in 2 nights. Saturday my neuropathy kicked in and trying to sleep while some savage little man jams a flaming sword in your toe every 30 seconds just is not possible. I finally dropped off at 5:00am but the sun woke me up at 8:30 or 9. And last night I just couldn’t fall asleep even though I had managed to do my laundry and some gardening and watch some of the Olympics but I went to bed after 10pm thinking I would fall asleep but noooo, my body had other plans for some reason and I got up and read about midnight for a while before I finally felt I could sleep and when I did it was wild tiring dreams I can’t remember but I feel like I hiked for miles so who knows I could have been sleepwalking.
Now everyone at work thinks I partied all weekend.
So I took Friday off at work to sleep in and maybe I’ll go to the Huntington Library or the Pacific Asia Museum
