Love this author’s wishcraft books and the newest one just dropped
If you haven’t read Mercedes Lackey’s Valedemar and Elemental series, I thoroughly recommnend. I enjoy all her series but these two are very focused on magical gifts and of course the elemental series is a good primer on elementals and magic.
I’m so sad Kim Harrison has ended her series, The Hollows, Rachel and Ivy and Jenks were wonderful characters to spend time with.
And last but not least, Marion Zimmer’s Darkover series is still one of the best on teaching psychic gifts.
So far I think there have been two but I could be wrong, Need to go back and look, anyway these are fun. I’m reading the third now.
I’m really enjoying these. These are nice cozy mysteries that for once don’t make the witchieness obnoxious anad the family characters are hysterical. If you are in the mood for pagan fluff and at the moment I need it, these are great
Sadly, most of Isis’ devotees today are no longer in Egypt. Instead, they are spread out across the globe.
Yet, this diffusion of devotion to Isis is really nothing new; it was part of the ancient world as well. Well before Egypt’s conquest by Alexander, we see devotion to Isis outside Egypt’s borders.
Even during archaic times (800 BC – 480 BC), we see traces of devotion, such as inscriptions or votive images. By the late 4th century BCE, Greeks in the Piraeus, Athens’ port city, had built a temple for Her there. At about that same time, the oldest of three Isis-Sarapis sanctuaries on the Greek holy island of Delos were established. We have evidence of Her worship in Crete from the 3rd or 2nd century BCE.
