I guess I should view this time off as a sabbatical to explore LA on the cheap with my camera and to finish the books I need to finish, so look for the collection of stories from the Littlest Druid and will see about others. I don’t think I have enough for a volume 2 of BunniHoTep yet but who knows?
So I need to take the bus back to the Getty sometime in the next week or so and maybe the Natural History Museum. Don’t know if I can afford the butterfly pavilion but I would love to photograph the inhabitants of the pavilion. Now that the Expo line is open it’s a lot cheaper than driving and less stress. I wish I could afford a trip to the Huntington Library but it’s too darn expensive.
So I might as well enjoy my off time and hopefully I will get hired when the department stops its shenanigans. I hope that’s soon because otherwise I’m waiting 90 days to come back here or at the mercy of whatever a temp agency can find, again…
I do need to practice with the new camera. I think I finally have a colour adjustment right or at least where I can live with it. I’m still getting used to the 26x zoom after living with a 3 times zoom. It has something called tracking focus which is both a blessing and a curse. A blessing when you are trying to follow a moving bird or animal, a pain in the ass if it thinks something is moving and it isn’t.
I’m always wildly amused by what the camera’s facial recognition software is a face. The Sony’s is actually better than Facebooks which can think clouds have faces and asks to tag them.
I’m wondering if I can safely go hiking by myself. I’d dearly love to go up to Millard Canyon waterfalls but that may not be a good idea by myself. Used to be okay but maybe not now. And maybe not up to Henninger Flats either. http://www.hikespeak.com/campgrounds/millard-campground/ if it’s open
Or maybe the Pacific Asia Museum, I can take the orange to the red to the gold line and catch the Arts bus. I need some good pictures of Asian goddess and in particular Quan Yin plus I live their little garden. Have to celebrate my birthday in a good way while I’m off.
Loved the last book of the series. She says there are 3 books of short stories so that’s good and she doesn’t rule out another book in the distant future. It’s been fun to see Savannah and Elena grow and change. And all the other women of the Otherworld. Can’t wait to see what she does next.
