My take on NaNoWriMo

Okay, I’m afraid I don’t understand the whole NaNoWriMo thing. People keep asking me if I’m doing it? Why? I’m a writer. I write all the time. I’d go insane if I had to wait for November to roll around to write. So I’m afraid I don’t get it.

If you have stories in your head, WRITE THEM!

To be Seussical:

Write them at noon.

Write them with a spoon

Write them in May

When the sky is all gray

Write them at dusk

When the skunk sends his musk

Write them in France

In your pink under pants

But write because you must!

And I’m ending there and leaving well enough alone.

The only reason I can see to do it is that you wouldn’t do it any other way. But since I tend to verbal diarrhea not a problem.

  1. I get what you mean. I hate being pressured to write but all my friends go “Oh, aren’t you a writer? Then why are you not doing NaNoWriMo?” Ugh! First off, because it sounds silly and second because NO

  2. This is my 3rd year doing it. I write a lot other times of the year, but I take this as a time to be able to really focus on one thing. I write a lot of short things so this is when I say “ok now I’m going to do something different and see if I grow.” I find it fun, but I enjoy deadlines. I work well with them. No its not for everyone, but it works for me 🙂
